are you sure? my folk-economic intuition is that QE crowded out investment by boosting asset values, whereas helicopter money would've at least driven investment on a household level.

We dropped helicopter money here in Australia in 2008. Every worker earning $100K or less and every low-income family got a $950 cheque. It took some bite out of the GFC downturn but not enough so we did it again. Everyone got another $950. Australia avoided recession entirely.
