Next Halley’s Comet visit will be 2061. If I’m alive I’ll be 87 🤔
Who else watched it in 1986?
I’m trying to make a list of historic events I’m very sure will happen in the future within my lifetime if I’m still alive, and this is literally the only thing I can think of.

I tried! Stood in my back yard with binoculars and a telescope night after night. Never managed to see it myself, but I wasn't the world's greatest 9-year-old astronomer, either.

It was not easy seeing, since it was kinda at an angle close to the sun or something iirc... I only saw it as a dim fuzzy ball. No glorious tail.

I was also in Houston and didn't really have a concept of light pollution yet. My poor parents were incredibly patient with me, in retrospect.

I bet. Summer camp the next year had an astronomer among the camp counselors, which was great. I got to see Saturn, rings and all.
Guy also taught me to waltz but that wasn't related. (Or creepy, either, which I realize it could have been.)
