Neither. Moloch is the great corrupter; Capitalism merely Its latest tool. As a mechanism for remuneration, capitalism is just fine. Global hyperfinancialized capitalism is a monster because of its oppressive and all-encompassing scale, not because of the mechanism at its heart.

Our current understanding of human nature (in the small and in the aggregate) is somewhere around 12th C physics. Not just slightly inaccurate, but grounded in cultural models so deep no-one is even willing to consider alternatives. 1/
