Nobody seems to have fun playing with new toys anymore. The newest toys like VR also cost too much instead of being free. Free toys has been a big part of SV’s frontier ethos. Crypto had a “free money” toy aspect, but it was too valuable to play with by the time it got easy
This is a real problem. Reflected in geography. SF is a shithole, peninsula is a desert, east bay is one loud political derp. South Bay is just work. A dead player. LA seems more alive now.
