It‘s ambiguous here as well, but not THAT ambiguous. It’s not skin color alone. It’s a cluster of features: skin color, lips, hair, etc. But in 90% of cases, 90% would probably pick out “black” clearly. The correlation cluster is strong. It’s non-black darks that are ambiguous.
Hard to tell without pictures here whether this case is about one of the edge cases. But the guy’s evasiveness with pretty clear cases like Obama or Kwame suggests something else is going on. But you’d need more than lazy skin-tone questions to pin Ryan and show intent.
