There is a substantial difference between Britain and America. They get lumped together for weird historical reasons, but despite inheriting colonialism/imperial ambition it’s important to note that America invented “hating the British” long before everyone else joined bandwagon.

Of course, quickly after, America also invented “pretending to hate the British as a guise for naked colonial imperialism”, so I get why this is problematic to untangle. As always South Park gets it right, can’t remember which episode but the one where Cartman visits 1776 USA

An easy confirmation from this; there’s probably a lot more in common between southeast Missouri and the Congo than there is between Minneapolis and Liverpool (or wherever the fuck; I don’t know UK cities, just that Birmingham seems cool on TV)

Neither have I, but viewed from any non-Anglo culture, the US and UK are really close. There’s no way you’d think they’re not if you’d lived in a non-Anglo culture for any length of time.

I’m probably being overly combatitive here. I guess I still get a little triggered by this website sometimes. All my tweets are from a super gonzo US perspective that I imagine I’d find incredibly boring if I lived in a country where actually interesting things are happening.
