Why aren’t all ramp modeling shows like this? I’ve always thought the regular kind is one of the most boring cultural spectacles ever invented. Like a mannequin parade. Throw in some dance like this and it suddenly becomes watchable.https://twitter.com/K_JeanPierre/status/1182811999773904899 …
True back in the day, but I think it’s grown into more of an entertainment genre now that’s part of marketing to a broader audience and helping create demand for style trends rather than just present options to tastemakers (who are steadily losing power)

I think this is why Instagram celebs etc who model clothes and other product use in live-use contexts are gaining influence. Also movie stars who show off a style through entire stories. Not haute couture of course, but I suspect haute couture is probably weakening too.

Instagram celebs usually model smaller brands trying to get exposure. Mid market giants rarely use this avenue cause their primary advantage is location, ie they are on every corner. High fashion doesn’t give a damn about either of these unless you’re Kendal Jenner.

You’re thinking of commercial mostly American brands. It’s detrimental to market a high fashion brand to the masses, because it looses all of its appeal. A fashion trend is born from only few people wearing it ( read supermodels, actresses) not from many common people wearing it
