I really dislike this kind of domestic commons confrontation. Back when people knew their apartment neighbors this would likely not happen to begin with, and if it did it would be a deliberate provocation. Now apartment renters mostly don’t know what it means to be neighbors.

Well in my case neighbor plays loud deep bass that really thumps through walls so I had to do something
I think noise pollution is real but needs to be managed with reasonable norms. The idea can certainly be abused just as the ability to make noise itself can.

Don't "complain". Share with your neighbor how the music is effecting you. Longer-term, Non Violent Communication is great training for these and many more situations, especially in conflict.
