I don’t think I’ve properly debated anyone ever. It’s a mugs game.
I don’t think debate is a useful mechanism except within an institutional due process setting with specific procedural principles both sides agree to, like a court of law, and enforcement with teeth.

You don't need the institutional due process etc if you're debating for fun against someone who shares the same notions of debating as you

I hate debate and avoid it. I think it makes people generally darker and less happy but no more informed or intelligent. I'd rather read each persons argument alone with the performative point scoring.
