And not script-template goals like “find a romantic partner” or “finish college” that basically everybody pursues. Real ones that, if pursued either successfully or not, would be your unique story.

I’m very suspicious of people who claim to be pursuing goals. Elon Musk is a rare example of someone who auditably declares and pursues goals in public.

I have set life goals. Also achieved them (some, anyway). Useful for planning how to get from Point A to Point B, BUT there is an insidious failure mode here where you are so focused on Point A -> Point B that you lose sight of the value of serendipity.
