Yeah, I mean no. 2. We don't have good terminology for the amorphous, shape-shifting set of claims that this ideology makes use of it in pursuit of institutional, in large part because the effort manipulates terms such as "diversity" to disguise its character.

True. I'm beginning to conclude that the weakest point, and the one worth attacking is the "approved language" layer.

The right is obsessed with "PC" around "things you can't say". The actual weak point of the wokeleban, worth attacking, is around the approved language you MUST use.
For example: I avoid using terms like "person of color" and "ally". Every use is a vote for woke-authoritarians. twitter.com/vgr/status/117…

The thing is, since the leaders stay in the shadows hiding their authoritarian intentions, they exercise power via their mooks using their designated shibboleth-language. You can weaken them by simply not using language they want used.

Unlike active provocation by using verboten language, which paints a target on your back and makes you vulnerable to cancelation, simply avoiding approved language and using alts is a kind of passive-aggressive attack that drains momentum and cohesion from their mook mobs.

For example, there is really never any reason to use aggregate-solidarity terms like PoC, WoC, and LBGTQ if you're not trying to promote an active solidarity-based tactical agenda. You can just be more specific, and use unloaded situation-specific language.

The expansive and labile construction of the micro-aggression was invented in order to catch out those deft enough to adopt your strategy. So one must also be swift in anticipating and updating one's algorithm to avoid those.

Yes, there's going to be an arms race and you're going to have to work hard at the language layer one way or another. Might as well direct that effort towards maintaining your independence.

This playbook is admittedly much easier for non-whites to use. The reason you and I are able to get away with saying even as much as we do is that we're not white. It's also why Andrew Yang was able to play the forgiveness card against the pressure.

The substantive core of the idea of microaggression is actually easy enough to stick to if you're basically kind, without using the enforcement language. That construct is expansive, but hard to enforce as well, since it relies on installing hi-res radars in designated victims.

agreed. It's a perfectly fine thing, and caught on because everyone has experienced them. It's when it hardens into an ideological weapon -- as it has -- that it becomes a problem.

i also think we've worked out some kinks in the system and it's overall gotten more efficient. seems far easier in 2019 to go from {news story -> identify relevant biases -> form respectful opinion} than in 2014
