You assume certain things from the past hold but others don’t, make a causal model, or do scenario analysis. Future = past should be the prior, but you can update from there.

Updates are just based on fresher samples of the past. Definitionally you can’t update from the future.

Depends on how much you want to stretch to make that connection. Ex. Horses and cars, Google and Yahoo.

Exactly. The only question is whether it will be like past at a surface attributes level or only a deep causal level. But it will always be like the past.

Aren't there a group of people in Africa who give the future & past opposite directions to us? Past is in front because you can see it, future is behind because you can't , sort of thing.
