I find I’m generally suspicious of people who write primarily for lots of new media sites/blogs, with no strong personal blog. They are in the no-mans-land between staff writers at traditional media sites and bloggers. You can’t tell where they’re coming from or trying to go.

Not everyone has the luxury of all that extra time that goes into a personal blog when they are focusing on developing bigger/better narratives for $. (Gotta pay the bills, yo)

If you are driving Uber, there’s no extra time for a personal blog. 😉 Also, not everyone does a job because it’s the best way to make money; some do it for the love of it. But there’s still the time/$ ratio issue
