Been a good week on the consulting front, where it feels like I actually made a small difference on an interesting and important matter, in a way I never could have as a regular employee. Those are the kinds of weeks you gig for. Microdoses of a sense of psychohistorical agency.

Pure consulting can also be "not a very satisfying life" unless you can select mandates that offer opportunities for psychohistorical nudging. Few people enjoy that option.

Yeah that’s why I stick to exec level work. There’s opps there. Middle management types are generally too far from consequential action even if they can pay.
