Waste management is the main issue for any energy infrastructure/ artificial metabolism. Discrete dense waste that demands long term care is better than invisible diffuse waste that can be ignored (Nuclear fuel waste is better than clouds of CO2)

What if ease-of-management is not the only paradigm by which to judge waste? What if you thought of the productive capacity of the waste as well if it was harnessed properly? That seems intuitively more sustainable to me.
