“Like learning to ride a bicycle” should be the standard for a well structured learnable skill. So many skills we work so hard to acquire are *not* like that.
All symbol-mediated ones and most powered subsymbolic ones (like driving) are not LLTRAB.

My Hindi vocabulary has atrophied atrociously since moving to the US but I don’t think it will ever degrade to the point of illiteracy no matter how little I use it

It makes you think if it’s all the symbol-mediated the ones that are gumming up the works

Partly, because they introduce a level of arbitrary representation. But subsymbolic can gum up works too. Car driving skill atrophied, unlike bicycle, because the speeds are way out of range for our natural motor/reaction skills.
