LASIK. It's the only way to go. Sure, I still have light reading glasses, but man, it was an incredible improvement in quality of life (as someone who was obscenely near-sighted most of his life).

Progressive lenses do suck. Get separate ones for reading.

Mrs M has gone that way and really likes it. Although you have to get disciplined about keeping track of them when you are not wearing them.

I find it easiest to just bite the bullet and buy multiple glasses. One pair sits near computer, one near bed, one in suitcase (travel), one in car. Just easier than trying to track a single pair...

Thought you were going to suggest conservative lenses instead.

No. FWIW, I have a pair of short-distances glasses for reading and work. I made the frame (or lack of it) and the shape of the two glasses as close as possible to my long-distance setup. Works well for me.

Tried all this year when I had to shift. Now have two pairs each of only-myopia correction, only-reading glasses, and bifocals. Rarely use the reading glasses. Bifocals or regular.

Take the time to get used to progressives. The UX of two separate glasses is horrific. Once you settle into them they work just fine.
