Yeah, basically Goon Show is the roots of Monty Python. It's radio. Also Beyond the Fringe, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. But actually that stuff, foundational as it is, is kind of dated to. You should be checking out modern UK comedy which has its own WTFness.

The most direct precursor was probably "At last, the 1948 show". But agree with other that the Goon Show was absolutely foundational for this strand of humor (and also for the Beatles' style of musical tomfoolery.)
