I’d like to read a good history of important contemporary drugs. Not the most prescribed but the most mission critical in some sense. Like warfarin and heparin don’t make the top 10 prescription drugs list but are clearly mission critical.

Well, looking for more broad than deep
As a kid, I remember reading a (now very dated) book called Microbe Hunters by Paul de Cruyffe that covered a broad era of drug development for infectious disease era. Feels like we need similar for systemic diseases/post infectious era.
Fentanyl is barely a drug in the healthcare sense and more a chemical weapon for driving profits it feels like.
