I’d like to read a good history of important contemporary drugs. Not the most prescribed but the most mission critical in some sense. Like warfarin and heparin don’t make the top 10 prescription drugs list but are clearly mission critical.

Well, looking for more broad than deep As a kid, I remember reading a (now very dated) book called Microbe Hunters by Paul de Cruyffe that covered a broad era of drug development for infectious disease era. Feels like we need similar for systemic diseases/post infectious era.

Is the metric lives saved, or dollars, or "gee whiz they can do THAT?" or QALYs? I wonder the extent to which boring old ibuprofen, claritin, things like that, win, at least by QALYs.
