The tree-level technical problems of AI are interesting but the forest-level gestalt is unbearably tedious. I think because it has historic roots (heh!) in an idea invented for bureaucrats (IQ) and aspires towards standards developed for entertainment (science fiction and games)

context-free definitions of intelligence are useless. task specific assessments of IQ are useful- spatial reasoning, working memory, logical reasoning, math ability, analogies, antonyms. these are real, discrete skills.
