Longform podcast is a very weird medium, I'm just beginning to understand. I've done maybe half a dozen, and from what little I've heard of talk radio of the Rush Limbaugh variety, longform podcasts are the opposite. A sort of McLuhan-chill cold medium with a domestic cozy vibe.

I like them as a participant - makes it possible to really get into a topic. Finding the time to listen to all of them though....

I'm not sure how I feel. The quality is hugely dependent on the host, which is why I'm wary of going on them. Depending on how deft they are at herding my thinking out loud, I can look like anything from a moronic asshole to a genius. So I think I have to feel a good trust vibe.

I second-guess 75% of what I’ve said as soon as recording is over. I did one recently where I told a story ab motherhood & after it thought of the 10 ways I’ll get shit for sharing that particular story. A good host can get to authenticity bc the guest loses restraint over time.
