The matriarchy is almost upon us The weird thing though is that it’s increasingly clear it will be a trad matriarchy rather than a woke one The culture theater is relitigating ill-posed feminist causes from 1970 while economic forces are concentrating power in household affairs

Traditional femininity that you urge to adopt long term is not actually a thing outside of traditional masculinity framed it to be. As in, it doesn’t exist as a thing given the barriers are removed which they are. So it will not develop and is not actually developing towards that

I’m not urging anyone to adopt anything. I’m observing a trend, not making recommendations.

I am referring to the very last tweet in the thread. Going long in trad femininity isn’t a possible option since it doesn’t exist outside of the circumstances that birthed it. It’s an entirely conditional option. The conditions for which are disappearing.

      That’s why it’s a hypothetical bet.

The hypothetical can’t exist unless some form of the previous construct is preserved. Centering trad fem labor isn’t a form of seizing power, it’s opening the space for participation. The reaction to this by doubling down on either end of the spectrum is just gender essentialism

Essentially what I’m saying is the only bet here is on further erasing the dichotomy rather then reforming the dichotomy. But let’s place our bets and see

I think in a matriarchy, tradfem can expand its reach far beyond home scale to things like politics. Cities and states can be run like households, by women leaders who bring those trad sensibilities to the job. So there’s more structures where it can thrive

And I think that trad fem sensibility doesn’t exist as a thing in itself. It’s patriarchal concept that has more to do with male projection than actual women’s behaviors. It’s a product of its environment. Remove the environment and you will also not have the effects.

This idea that women have same internal talent for running domestic chores or similarly structured activities is essentialist to its core. Unless a middle ground is reached, what will happen is just a flip. No actual change in general construct, but rather just a power flip.

But if enough *women* act on some version of that belief, especially in a high-agency version where that mode is more powerful than complementary essentialized make ideals (“better at risky hunting”) it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy

Yes it will, but my bet is they won’t. It takes a very basic removal of prior conditions to stop the belief from further perpetuating. And the conditions as you noted, are being removed quite swiftly.

My point is there’s more environments in which tradfem beliefs may be adaptive besides the ones in which they originally emerged and we’re seeing a new such emerge now Kinda like how 19th century style populism is suddenly adaptive again
