Started watching Another Life. Realized what I don’t like about most space sci-fi from recent years. The tech feels like premium mediocre computer hardware aesthetic. Like early Samsung ripoffs of Apple. I prefer 90s space visuals to this chrome and brushed aluminum look.

Thoughts on Three Body Problem?

It was okay. I didn’t love it. Didn’t read parts 2 and 3.

Ooh that looks good visually. Like Firefly but cozy.

Becky Chambers novel The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet felt like a step toward domestic cozy space opera. I loved it. Most of the book is about a crew to feel at home in the ship on a long, boring space voyage.

Another Life was awful. Have you seen Dark, the breakout German Netflix series. Totally about time and it’s various aspects, and foreign origin adds a really interesting aesthetic and approach

Specifically, I think there’s something in German culture that doesn’t fit things automatically into good vs evil, like US does. Likes to question them, reverse them, complexity them
