Fear of inbox zero is fear of the void. What if, once you've cleared decks, there is nothing? Usually when you get to zero, it immediately catalyzes a generative burst of stimulating thoughts, but it's not guaranteed. You may have to spend minutes to months at zero.

Though right now I'm also avoiding inbox zero because the actual things across all my inboxes are relentlessly tedious chores and cleanup. Or maybe the scare-value of "zero" is a function of the tedium cost paid to get there. "All that for NOTHING?"
