I think I’m going a bit stir-crazy in DTLA because there’s no place to go for nature/water walks for at a mile in any direction. Nearest thing is Grand Park a mile away and it’s a 3x1 block rectangle.
I’ve been spoiled by years of easy Seattle waterfront access.

Grand park is also way too urban. Fountains and pink benches and stuff. What’s the nearest place I can walk in at least a premium-mediocre faux-natural space with obscured view of built environment?

Chinatowns LA state historic park...
This city really is geared though for cars and 30 min drives to (really nice) hikes

MacArthur Park and you can sing all day about cakes and rain!
Elysian Park and Griffith Park will look very familiar from a thousand movies. At Griffith you can check out from a distance an LA style funeral at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills — interesting.
Silver Lake Reservoir.
