When I called credit card company today the voice dialog told me they’re now recording voice for identification purposes. Is this a thing now?

Never heard about this before. Only heard “for employee training” and “for service quality” purposes.

Yeah, at least some banks (eg Citibank).
Seems to be opt-in, but presumably it's to your advantage to do so (one more hurdle for someone calling up with your stolen credentials and claiming to be you, if the system flags them as sounding different from you?)
