In nature you do find the occasional monopoly (DNA/RNA as the monopoly replicator molecule-team) but in general it is much rarer than equilibriums of opposed things (predator/prey for example). In human society I can’t think of a single enduring idea monopoly or tech monopoly.

It’s always at least a duopoly (not necessarily in balance). Socialism vs. capitalism. Eastern vs western religions. Wheels vs skis. Fossil vs renewables. Phonetic/logographic.
If you think an idea you favor should be an enduring monopoly like DNA, I’m going to be very skeptical

“The opposite of every great truth is also a great truth” implies no matter how fervently you believe in X, you should not seek total extermination of not-X, no matter how repugnant it seems to you. Conflict and contain, fight the good fight, but do not try to exterminate.

Because as the saying goes, if you’re willing to do it for “good” reasons, you won’t let “bad” reasons stop you later. Exterminator instincts are deeply, almost inevitably and inexorably, corrupting.

By definition, wouldn’t something where there was an idea monopoly be explicitly something where you can’t even consider it any other way?
Idea monopolies are invisible background. The biggest intellectual wins are breaking a monopoly.

Water is a pretty compelling monopoly too. In human world - the chemistry of photography - before digital came along.
