This thread is worth reading for a smart p.o.v. on over-valuing #wealth in US society. The thread is more pessimistic than I am but makes valuable points (and don’t fear, FinTwit, it doesn’t end with a call for Marxist revolution).

Been reflecting on wealth and success (in conventional sense, which may involve some combination of wealth, fame, accomplishment, historic impact, etc) lately. Both are things I am not personally very motivated by. But they are not things I have a problem with either.

Fair point. I may not have needed to add that qualifier but I’ve noticed some smart Twitterati contacts who should read this but who see the word “socialism” and think Stalin, not Scandinavian social democracy.

Just about every culture or subculture is less positively disposed to wealth than financial culture, for obvious reasons. You don’t have to be Marxist to be unfriendly to money-making, of course. But if you want a wholly “pro-money” info environment you have to filter *hard.*
