Doesn’t sound in-character to me. I always imagined Maya as being relatively precarious, since she probably struggles more with student loans as a result of prioritizing personal meaning over lucrative career prospects. There may be different Mayas stratified by economic class.

I think of the kinds of people who quit their jobs to write Medium posts as being more of a tech industry-centric audience. When I first read about Maya & tried to relate the example to people I’d encountered I thought of wealthy artsy dilletantes and bitter socialist baristas.
