"Decency" is one of the things that's gotten hypernormalized. It's 2019 and you still think trying to shame Trump for this or that is a meaningful thing to do, even as a signal to your allies, let alone as an attempt to influence his behavior?

You don't have to turn to indecency yourself of course. You just shouldn't take decency seriously as a part of how the world works. It's just a nice state to maintain around your personal interactions when you can. A personal preference, not a consequential force in the world.

He's not the pooper, he's the poop.

People talk about the "outrage cycle" but it is better understood as the "hypernormalized decency cycle". You have to ignore decency violations the way you ignore babies pooping/peeing. Smelly but not important. A new world order is being born. There will be soiled diapers.
