People misunderstanding this. I don’t mean QTing in general. I mean quoting an old tweet by X as a reply to a new tweet by X.
Quote Tweet
Something scary and remarkable at the same time: people now frequently respond to me by quoting my own tweets. And it’s not even gotcha QTing but genuinely useful recall. I’m gonna call it Turkish Crowd Memory. I’m naming mine Gökçek.

Yes I have heard of this technique
Quote Tweet
The RQT Self-Link Pattern is good for when Replying to people w/large followings who likely get many Replies, or when Replying to older tweets. You may wish to minimize imposition by Quote Tweeting the tweet you're Replying to. This lets the recipient quickly discern the context.

Threading 101: RQT Self-Link Pattern: One can use RQTs to link to the Tweet that you are Replying to, for context. This helps when Replying to older tweets. Consider including a link to the Original Tweet (OT) in your Reply. You give context w/o unnecessary action on your recipient's part. This may also be good for Replying to folks who get many notifications & may help get your tweet RT'd.

One problem with this is (depending on client) it may be difficult to discern a Reply Quote Tweet from a Quote Tweet. If nothing else the latter part is more obvious. Some may view this as an escalation, perhaps escalate on their own via a Quote Tweet, breaking the convo thread.
