Rewatching Burn Notice... the Michael Westin voiceover bits explain bits of tradecraft (a mix of real and bullshit) interpolated into the plot. The nice trick is, it’s not exposition (the action doesn’t really need it), but garnish. Livens up what would otherwise be tropey action

When a story needs exposition to work, it’s fundamentally lame. When exposition enriches a plot that works without it, it goes from boring pipe-laying to fun.
