When a story needs exposition to work, it’s fundamentally lame. When exposition enriches a plot that works without it, it goes from boring pipe-laying to fun.

Have you seen "Person of Interest"? It starts out rather myopic, but it rapidly shows establishment of political control, and cybernetic takeover of various domains. It gets increasingly smarter as it goes. ...Surprisingly worth a watch.
