The fact that A disagrees with B does NOT mean B immediately gets to scream "racist xenophobe"... In the absence of further info both A and B don't have a clue what the true motivations are for the other's stance.

Oh, one final point. As always, I think, the left has failed to think this one through. Yes, the first order effect of open borders is what it is. But then what?

(a) If the social safety net is impossible to maintain it won't be maintained...
(b) If all land, all property, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD can be bought by anyone, who's the winner in that? The guys with the most money?
And the loser? The citizens of uber poor countries.

You should post this as a separate thread calling out actual people you think are arguing this. As a reply to my thread it comes across as knee jerk whataboutism around a strawman version of open borders. I have tweeted about my views on open borders elsewhere.

That’s the problem with Twitter, of course 😀.
The environment I’m seeing (including the most recent Dem debate) is different from the context you’re seeing. ..

You’re not exactly helping with an anon profile pic, and no details in bio to help people see where you are coming from.

The cool thing to say would be that my words should speak for themselves!
But truth is I don’t care enough to choose a pic or write a bio. I tend to assume anyone who actually cares about me can read through my (massively opinionated) stream and get a feeling within a few tweets.

“Words speak for themselves” is a bs line people trot out when they unconsciously want to avoid scrutiny. Unless you’re publishing math proofs.
If you don’t care enough to give some indication of where you’re coming from, tbh I don’t care enough to engage.

Fair enough. But what should I put in a bio that “clarifies” my earlier statements? My birthplace? Race? Education? Jobs?
A lot of what I tweet is about computer micro-architecture. I also have opinions on physics and pop culture...

A blog or linkedin type profile link or whatever, some meaningful profile pic... it’s not rocket science. Identity performance at a moderate level is something I view as basic courtesy. Letting people know enough about yourself on your terms to ease the burdens of interaction.

Fair enough, I’ll take that under advisement.
But published where? Nothing is really a SATISFACTORY host medium for what you say.
Facebook? Not my scene.
Medium? Too in your face.
Wordpress? Just keeps becoming more painful to deal with.
Self-hosted? Life’s too short.
