At times, I suddenly notice a conversation is wonderful in a particular way: someone makes an interaction generative of genuine choice. They present information such that it doesn't abstract away agency. Any recommendations on books, or practices to hone this skill?

I love this. Can you unpack the "unironic" part of truth-telling, or rather, why you chose that specific phraseology?

People who can be hurt by agency grabs are typically vulnerable enough that even the slight complications introduced by the need to process irony deplete them. Spoon theory type idea. Don't make vulnerable people running on empty do more thinking work than necessary.
