There’s a difference between simplicity resulting of breakthrough insight (eg Brahe —> Kepler —> Newton) and simplicity as a fetish for cognitive minimalism. Throwing away “trivial” details because your “values” tell you what is “important” is not insight, it is reductionism.

I kind of agree. Not really sure, I gotta let that one mull over.
Sometimes the only value I have in my communication is about getting something to function though. In which case, filtering makes sense.
