Performing >1 public persona is pretty hard. Most people are like Jack Nicholson. He might be a good actor but plays all roles basically the same. We watch because his default is fun. Curiously such actors seem to become much bigger stars than actual high-range versatile ones.

Something like a hedgehog vs fox halo effect difference here. Cf Tetlock’s point about most TV talking heads being hedgehogs even though foxes are somewhat better at forecasting. High-range big-celeb actors (Brad Pitt?) seem pretty rare. They’re mostly character actors.

I suspect most people with successfully separated twitter alts actually perform all handles the same way, but rely on obscurity and basic indifference/disinterest of people in detective work to keep the personas distinct. Security by obscurity.

Only time I can recall being surprised was when @pt was revealed to be @StartupLJackson ... but that’s a case of leveraging a famous person very different from yourself. Like BIRGing but for borrowed difference. BIBD.
But otoh @SwiftOnSecurity doesn’t bother to BIBD.
