Ranting about “broken” systems full of seemingly very dumb people is a sign you’re in a complex system and not dealing well with it because you’re bringing non-complex-systems thinking to your experience. Ranting may help force system to do what you want but it will cost you.

Either way you’ll make yourself mad and worse, and everybody around you stressed, for sure. Whether or not the hammering fixes the problem. And the probability of brute hammering being helpful just goes down with increasing system complexity. I need a gif here of apes getting mad

The farther away you get from simpler mechanical systems — to chemical, electrical, electronic, bureaucratic, biological and ultimately, social systems, the less effective ranting gets.

You will also worsen your understanding of the complex system with each ranting response, making your next interaction that much dumber, forcing more energetic ranting. It’s a vicious cycle that ends with apes furiously banging on a completely opaque system they don’t understand.

Plenty of complex systems are "broken" by virtue of having grown into conditions that no longer exist or simply growing too big/complex over time. While ranting might not help, the indignation felt in those cases should not just be waved away as "bringing the wrong thinking"

The rolle of the system in question here is VERY important. If you cant figure out your way around your complex workplace that might be on you. If the medical system exposes too much complexity to patients that are likely already impaired that is a serious issue.
