Repair mavens: I have this tightly stuck screw with a stripped philips head holding a ceiling fan blade to ritir. It’s slightly under rotor rim so screwdriver can only get at it at a slight angle off vertical. How do I get it off? A rubber band hack from YouTube didn’t work.

I can't. The blade is attached to the hub with that screw. That's the problem I'm trying to solve. I got the other blades off, but this one screw on one blade is stripped+jammed

Longer Philip's bit
Use a screw extraction bit
Use a dremel cut wheel to carve a slot for a flat head screwdriver
Grind down the sides to get a pair of pliers on it
Use JB weld to glue something onto the screw head that gives you enough leverage to turn it

filed away as things to try. For now since only one blade isn't coming off, I'm thinking of just packing the damn thing.

1. Use a small metal file or metal saw to notch the cap of the screw and then use a flat tip which is easier to use off centre.
2. Use a plain philips bit with a wrench to create something that resembles a right angle screwdriver, similar to this:

ooh that second suggestion is something I could try now with what tools I have!

I would just use vice-grips! Seriously, what are all these crazy suggestions? If it is so tight that vice-grips aren't working, then it's time to cut. This type o'deal:

It's something that's always handy to have in the toolbox.
