Tbh if I were a fortune 100 CEO, I too would be doing stock buybacks with record profits. All the obvious things people think could be done (ignoring shareholder value fiduciary responsibility laws which I think are obsolete) have issues.

Yeah. Just tax advantage to return value via buybacks in the US. Capital gains over income taxes.
