What makes a stream of causally connected events and actions seem "important" so that we unconsciously start allocating more attention to it? I think this is the key question I've been noodling on for a few days now. And can you change the importance order of thread A and B?

For adults, two things that stand out: 1) normals are strongly established, strong event deviations stand out due to unknown bearing on outcomes, 2) event outcomes are more predictable than 1, but of especially (abnormally) high (positive or negative) bearing value.
