Multilingualism is vastly overrated/overvalued, but *multicultural experience* (having lived long periods in very different cultures) is vastly underrated/undervalued. It’s better to have lived in 2 places knowing only the language of 1 than in 1 place knowing languages of 2.

I can probably claim 3+3 here 😎 That’s why I’m an unrepentant globalist. I frankly have some contempt for people who have the opportunity/resources to experience more than 1 culture but *choose* not to (agnostic sympathy for those without the opportunity).

Does multiculturalism include different cultures such as north east India, Chattisgarh, west/east bengal etc.? Or are all these considered too similar to be separate cultures? Are US and NZ different cultures or too similar?

I did that on an end of chapter problem in my book that turned out to be too tedious to solve. Are you saying that while defining culture accurately is tedious, determining the value of culture based on tenuous definitions is ok?
