I’m kinda glad I mostly got wanderlust out of my system. I’ve sampled maybe 30% of the world along cultural and natural-geographic dimensions and there’s not much left that I’m genuinely curious enough about that it’d be worth the hassle of visas and new languages. Africa maybe.

...Now that travel and general global welcomingness appear to be in a generational decline mode that is.
I’d be very unhappy if I were 22 and restless to see the world right now as I was circa 1997 when I first left India.

Do you think there are other things a 22 year old of today should focus more on, considering the point made about the decreasing returns to travel?

Decreasing returns for me personally at 44 after a ton of travel and living in many places for 20 years. I think 22 year olds should still travel as much as they can and live in as many places as they can until they get tired of moving.
