Inconvenient wisdom gained on Twitter today Meaning in life is created by unnecessarily detailed preferences and unnecessarily specific ways of caring. IOW living less conveniently, more energy, than necessary. Living tastefully = cargo cult version of this. You guys suck 🤬

Life is not a satisficing problem. This may be the fatal flaw in economic theorizing. Markets can only deliver satisficing conveniences. Inconvenience is priceless. The underspecified life is not worth living. Overspecification is the spice of life.

Agreed that these bits are under-theorized, but markets often enable that selective inconvenience, no? I get to spend time writing notes in a paper journal or whatever inconvenience I perceive as beneficial because someone else handles e.g. inconveniences of growing my food

It can feed back on itself too. "Paper" was mostly a one-dimensional commodity to me until I started writing on it more. Then I discovered a particular notebook I liked Paper quality being meaningful would've been obvious to anyone living in an all-paper world/time
