Inconvenient wisdom gained on Twitter today
Meaning in life is created by unnecessarily detailed preferences and unnecessarily specific ways of caring.
IOW living less conveniently, more energy, than necessary.
Living tastefully = cargo cult version of this.

Life is not a satisficing problem. This may be the fatal flaw in economic theorizing. Markets can only deliver satisficing conveniences. Inconvenience is priceless.
The underspecified life is not worth living. Overspecification is the spice of life.

You didn't expect attachment (caring/meaning) to be connected to suffering?

Buddhism and psychoanalysis (specifically meditation and the “talking cure” part of analysis) have always gotten this part right. Meaning is just understanding error. It thwarts all aesthetics.

Maybe one of the ways that I'm weird is that this isn't true of me.

Just cozy up to people who over specify in a way that you appreciate.
Though, you still gotta find a way to convince them to keep you around.

There’s probably a connection there to the hyper-precise way in which rituals (most obviously religious, but think all Flag Code) are specified, likewise religious architecture like Temple details in Old Testament.
