An under-discussed part of end of history thesis is the “...and the last man” part. It’s actually the more interesting bit. The idea of “men without backs” who are comfort-seeking Eloi-like vs those who desperately seek escape from that with extreme sports etc.

I also interpret this as a caring deficit. The more comfortable and convenient life gets, the harder it is to get invested in things that traditionally catalyzed deep caring, like religion
