Hmm. My ideology is a function of distance. Reactionary at kitchen scale, communist in a 10-block radius, capitalist at city scale, social democrat at region scale, globalist neoliberal at nation+ scale, Libertarian starting at LEO. Anarchist past moon orbit.

Somewhat similar out in time. Communist a week out, Libertarian a century out, anarchist 200 years out.

How much of this is idiosyncratic? How much of this is sort of baked in to human nature?
I too feel "communist" in a "ten block radius"... it's simple self interest, imho.
It's at the margins, and under the liminal veil, that we get the most freedom to choose.

I bet a reasonably competent armchair intellectual could prove this as a theorem from first principles starting from evolutionary psychology and game theory

If only we had a reasonably competent armchair intellectual on the thread. 🙄

All you gotta do is start with wΔz=cov(wᵢ,zᵢ)+E(wᵢΔzᵢ), and keep in mind that – ∆z̄ = Σ(∆qᵢ)zᵢ + Σq′ᵢ (∆zᵢ), so we'll get the localized communism from the second term.
Details are left as an exercise for the motivated reader. 😀
