Came up with a weird definition
Identity is how you care about the world
Conversation
How much you care = (size of identity)*(intensity of identity)
A weak identity is one that doesn’t care much.
Examples of strong ones: parents, founders, star athletes, poets

“How you care” is a vector. A bit of the world (magnitude) and fate you wish for it (direction)
Eg.
Child —> grow and thrive
Alpha Centauri —> become better understood by humans
Mars —> become colonized by humans
Caring about X *is* having a preference for future of X

As a cohesive entity, one can construe a baby's direction as "to die as fast as possible". A parent's role is to ensure that doesn't happen until the baby's direction changes so their own agency is in alignment with their continued existence.
Thankfully their magnitude is small.

There’s a book by Alison Gopnik about that I’ve been meaning to read. Development of ego boundary from “blooming buzzing confusion” etc.

Friends who are parents tell me a baby’s directive is to put as many things in its mouth as possible
