Older people are not shy about telling you about how you’ll physically slow down and degenerate in a 100 little ways as you age, but they’re very coy about admitting that you also get mentally slower, duller, and less imaginative. Some mix of denial and genuine fear I suppose.

There's an element of individual v group here. If you use your experience to defend/protect bright younger people instead of denying aging there's a network effect.

I've watched some around me age by going the FaceBook route, just sending out the same tired outrage of the day. They're the mirror image of their Fox News watching counterparts; both locked in a model of the world they're unwilling to question. 2/
